PEOPLE move around a lot these days, with those who have been in the same role for more than five years often being seen as veterans in their workplace, so few could fathom sticking around for five decades.

However, that's just what Peter "Slug" Constable has done at Glencore's Hunter Valley Operations, as the experienced Muswellbrook worker celebrates 50 years of dedicated service.
Even at the age of 70, he's still got passion, drive and good physical health, which has allowed him to continue being a key cog in the mining site's activities.
He has no intention of retiring soon; even though he joked it's the question he's asked most often.
"I still enjoy it, I'll just pull up and stop when think I've had enough," Mr Constable said.
"But, I'm feeling pretty good at the moment."
Having started his career at just 20, the industry veteran revealed he'd seen 29 managers come and go, as well as a raft of family members.
He currently works with three of his relatives, with son David, youngest brother Eddie and nephew Brad all joining in on the celebrations on Wednesday.
The changes Mr Constable has witnessed have been astronomical and he admits it's been important to keep adapting throughout the years.
"Everything just gets bigger and bigger and more modern, all electronic - whereas in the old days we didn't have any of that stuff," he revealed.
"It was all manual."
His son, David, said he was extremely proud of and inspired by his father, who was one the major influences in him also becoming part of the mining community.
"It's always good to see your dad healthy and fit and it kind of just adds to your own work ethic and to strive for the same," he said.
"Obviously I had my dad in mining... and it was always a desire to get into the mines but it was always pretty hard."
Mr Constable is still extremely sharp and, to the admission of his co-workers, still excellent with numbers.
He recalled his first day as being May 26, 1969, stated he has had the same work bag for 31 years and even remembers how many "Take 5" booklets he has completed in his time.
Incredibly, he's never suffered a workplace injury and even said he hasn't taken a sick day in 45 years, showing his unrivalled dedication to the job and the workplace.
