And, on Thursday night, the 2019 cohort did just that in Muswellbrook.
The event, which was hosted by the local RSL Club, saw 30 youngsters rewarded for their efforts after 17 weeks of study.
The apprentices had the opportunity to let their hair down and socialise, while also toasting to the newest stage in their lives.
Due to the raft of options to work in mining locally, many of them will be looking to make their mark around the area but the knowledge they've gained will hold them in good stead to have an impact in a variety of roles and places.
With proud parents, friends and partners in attendance, it was a gleeful affair for all involved and there were plenty of smiles and stories being shared around the room.
