The battle between two of the top four sides heading into round seven certainly lived up to expectations, with smart attacking raids and desperate tag defence a feature of the showdown.
But, it was the Mavettes who bounced back to form, following a narrow 22-20 loss to the Scone Thoroughbreds in their previous outing.
Murrurundi's Sheree Johnson put the hosts on the scoreboard first - and it remained 4-0 until the break.
The second half began well for the Mavettes, with Hannah Rando displaying plenty of pace to touch down for an 8-0 lead.
Murrurundi extended the margin to 14-0 when Erin West sliced down the sideline to cross over the white stripe.
Gracie Gallen landed the conversion.
The Ramettes refused to surrender, with Kylie Saunders showing a ton of class out wide to score.
However, time ran out for Muswellbrook, despite the efforts of Emily Huggins and tryscorer Saunders.
