Arriving as part of the BHP Benefiting My Community program, the residential care facility will broadcast the station which also includes requests, shout-outs and birthday calls, regular singalong sessions, family favourites and hymns on Sundays.

BHP communications officer Andrew Marsh said the investment, which cost approximately $5000, was a great project to be a part of.

"Community organisations put in submissions for funding and we have a group of staff and community members who go through and review the submissions," he explained.

"Merton Living was successful in this round so they've been able to put together this wonderful program."

Merton Court general manager Shani Mitchell was also full of praise for the operation and explained how she came across it.

"I saw it at the ACSA (Aged and Community Services Australia) conference in Sydney in September last year," she said.

"And, I thought it was something that would work very well here because it's something you can personalise to the residents.

"It's something they can enjoy with their family when their visitors come, it's something they can reminisce with together, we can send in music requests for them and it's interactive essentially."

One of those set to benefit from the nostalgia is Laurie Hollins, who is looking forward to hearing more of his old favourites.

"It's great to hear all the old music and the old songs, it's very good," he stated.

It's sure to add some extra enthusiasm and zest to the halls at Merton Court and bring back more fond memories for those living there.
