Aberdeen Public School hosted a special assembly, morning tea and didgeridoo performance on Monday.
And, last Thursday, St James' Primary School in Muswellbrook took its turn to commemorate the occasion.
The annual event focused on this year's theme Voice. Treaty. Truth - let's work together for a shared future.
The day began with an Acknowledgement of Country, prayer and Smoking ceremony.
Students then participated in a wide variety of activities such as traditional indigenous sport, yarning circles and a bush tucker lunch.
"The kids learnt about the multi-talented Baker Boy, named Young Australian of the Year 2019, and about the winning entries in the local 2019 NAIDOC Art Competition," Aboriginal education teacher Tania Thompson said.
"To the delight of pupils, staff and families, it all concluded with a traditional dance performance led by Jacob Ellis from the Ochre Opportunity Hub.
"It included about 90 students that he's been working with throughout the year.
"The excited faces and informed discussions were proof of the day's success in highlighting the importance of the 2019 NAIDOC theme."
