The generosity shown by locals was on full show at the Upper Hunter Community Services (UHCS) offices in Muswellbrook on Tuesday, as they sorted through rooms full of dresses, jackets and tuxedos donated by residents.
UHCS recently set up a program designed to assist those struggling for funds find the perfect fit in order to still be able to attend their school formals.
And, they were elated with the response they received.
"We're really overwhelmed with donations, it's been great," said development officer Jessica Dallah.
"It's heaps more than we thought we would get, we've got heaps of girls' as well as men's clothes, which we were a little bit worried about.
"But, the community really pulled through.
"We want to make sure everyone feels great and beautiful in their clothes and we have really, really nice stuff so come down and have a look."
She revealed there were a variety of sizes, meaning there should be a fit for anyone in need.
They will host events for people to come along and try the outfits on from 4pm to 6.30pm at Merriwa CWA on Tuesday, August 13; Brookside Church in Muswellbrook on Wednesday, August 14; upstairs at the Scone RSL Club on Thursday, August 15; and at the Singleton Youth Centre on Wednesday, August 21.
However, Ms Dallah also announced that anyone who is interested but unable to attend those dates or times can contact them on 6542 3555 to make alternative arrangements.
