The Muswellbrook Netball Association (MNA) is hosting the inaugural community colour fun run, Colour Me Happy, on Sunday, August 25.
Between 10am and 2pm, residents - young and old - can peruse a number of market stalls (Kristy's Macaroons, Picbox Photobooth, Cold Rock Ice Cream, Km & Co, The Slime Hut, Coffee Alsortz, Collective By Jaim, Resin Art by Lisa, I'm Da Bomb, Bow Wow Barkery & Bath House, Park & Pine Boutique Shop, Besom Mobil Café, Muswellbrook Floral Studio, Bela's Boutique, Heavenly Bath & Beauty, Aloe Vera products, Mary Kay, Julz Clothing, Phoenix Vet Nurse Services & Organics, Tobblez Kidz Clothing and Aroma Delights Candles) and enjoy many free activities including face painting, Sweet Valley Baby Animals Petting Zoo, entertainment and a jumping castle before taking part in the main event.
The under-8s are first to "run" from 11am, with the under-12s starting at 11.30am.
The open/over-13 participants follow from noon.
The course, which is being staged through Karoola Park, will feature inflatable obstacles, as well as the "colour stations" at regular intervals.
MNA applied for a Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network grant, which was available for groups to lead activities that build resilience during "the big dry".
"We picked up this funding as a result of Muswellbrook being a drought-affected region," said Karlie Norman, who is coordinating the event with Kelly Constable, earlier in the month.
"We'd love to give something back to the community.
"So, we thought a free colour run would be fun.
"It's a good chance for people to get out - and get active.
"MNA is purely hosting the event; we're not profiting from it.
"We'd like to thank all the sponsors, businesses and individuals who've thrown their support behind Colour Me Happy."
Muswellbrook Fire & Rescue NSW and Hunter Academy of Sport netball skills and drills sessions (10am, 11am and 1pm) will take part in the day's program, too.
On top of that, there'll be free fairy floss and a sausage sizzle, manned by the Muswellbrook Lions Club.
