Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection of the New England Highway and Hebden Road, between Muswellbrook and Singleton, about 11.30am on Wednesday, September 18, following reports two vehicles, one towing a caravan, had collided.
Hunter Valley Police District officers said a truck carrying a load of coal was also involved in the incident.
It is understood the truck left the road to avoid the accident, but remained upright.
Two NSW Ambulance crews were called to the scene and later transported one patient with minor injuries to Muswellbrook District Hospital.
The road has been closed in one direction, as emergency crews await a tow truck to help clear the way.
Northbound drivers are being diverted via Lemington Road and then the Golden Highway.
