Muswellbrook Act-Belong-Commit is encouraging residents to get out and meet others through their inaugural colour run, in an effort to combat isolation and loneliness.
Live Life in Colour will take place next month, after the group's youth connectors set up the event.
Despite only starting in May, after undergoing a youth connectors' workshop, Toni Prior, 20, and 24-year-old Stephanie Garland have already gained funding for the activity.
The former is currently undergoing a Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Newcastle, while the latter is beginning a Diploma in Community Services.
They said an event as simple as a colour run could provide a number of benefits to members of the public.
"It's directed at not only getting them to come down and receive some tips and resources on how to look after their mental health, but also to give them a chance to network and create some friends," Ms Prior explained.
"It's free, it's a chance to meet new people, it's an opportunity to get educated and it'll be a lot of fun, you can get active and you can get colourful."
A number of sporting clubs have signed up to be available for a chat as part of the event, in the hope of spurring people on to join a team environment.
Free food, music, games and information tents will be on hand, too, providing plenty of encouragement to sign up.
They are hosting the colour run in collaboration with Upper Hunter Community Services (UHCS), with their youth development officer Jesse Court playing a role in proceedings.
Muswellbrook Act-Belong-Commit coordinator Carly Hughes was thankful for their involvement.
"We've been really grateful to have UHCS support our youth connectors and we're looking forward to working closely with Jesse," she said.
The event will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm at Highbrook Park in Muswellbrook on Sunday, October 13.
Everyone is invited to attend.
Registration can be completed via Eventbrite, with a link to the site on Muswellbrook ABC's Facebook page.
