However, they have made a change this year by sending a dental surgeon for the first time, in the form of Graham Sutton, as well as dental assistant Aleisha Wolfenden.

Next year they will spend a fortnight in Nepal, helping people who would ordinarily have very limited access to oral care.

Dr Sutton said that he is excited by the opportunity, but isn't 100 per cent sure what awaits him upon arrival.

"I don't know a lot about it, I know we'll be treating patients in an underdeveloped country, and that's what we're interested in doing," he said.

"But as to what sort of treatment we're doing and what's happening, I'm not really sure."

Ms Wolfenden also said she was looking forward to the trip, having heard about it from other colleagues throughout the past year.

Whereas Dr Sutton said it could be an eye opening and emotionally rewarding experience.

"We've got it so good here, everything is so good in Australia so to go over and just go over a little bit and help those that need it would be great," he said.

It is the third year the dental clinic will be sending people over, with two making the journey in 2017 and double that amount last year.

Practice coordinator attended on both of those occasions, and gave a glowing reflection of her inaugural trip.

"It was quite confronting, but just knowing that we're able to help kids, giving them the opportunity that they usually never get, it was really rewarding," she said.
