She recently travelled to Parliament House to pick up an accolade for Tourism and Hospitality Studies at the 2019 Minister's Student Achiever Awards .
The 19-year-old is currently working at itravel Muswellbrook as a travel adviser, after undergoing a certificate three in tourism.
Despite being a hugely popular industry, just fourteen people across the state received the award.
Ms Scriven said it was a great feeling to know she was being held in such high esteem.
"It was really good because all the people that got the award were from Sydney, so I was the only 'little person' that got it," she said.
She told The Chronicle that being a travel agent had been something she's always wanted to do, stating that experiencing other cultures and getting to share that knowledge and use it to help others was an incredible profession.
Quite fittingly, the Muswellbrook local was overseas when she found out about the nomination.
"I was actually in New York when my teacher told me about it," she said.
She said 'I'm nominating you for this award, can I have your details', and I said 'yea okay' but dind't think I'd get it," she said.
"Then I got back to work and got the email saying I'd won."
When asked what her favourite location was, the seasoned traveller said she couldn't go past Seattle, where she went on exchange two years ago.
She believes receiving the award will help develop her career further, and hopes to one day be a Contiki Tours ambassador, or something along those lines.
