Child anxiety is an ever-present issue within society which causes approximately 1 in 10 children to have problems with their mental health.

That's why UHCS decided to take action and called in Dr Lauren McLellan, clinical psychologist and lecturer from the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University, to deliver a speech and give advice on how to manage the issue and provide tools to lessen the impact.

Shockingly - but also quite tellingly - 170 people attended with parents, grandparents and kids made their way to Muswellbrook RSL Club for the talk.

This was an overwhelming success for UHCS and, more importantly, for the region's children.

However, none of this would have been possible without the Glencore Mangoola Workforce, who raised funds to help bring Dr McLellan to the area.

A total of $8000 was generated to help with a number of programs, and environment and community coordinator, Mitchell Green, said they were more than happy to help.

On Friday, November 22, they presented UHCS with a cheque, and expressed their delight to have helped contribute to such a worthy cause.

The money also went towards the TOYBOX comes to town magic show, purchasing new equipment for FUN TIME Playgroup, and supporting youth development officers in implementing a program into schools through REACH.
