Talented youngsters Jessica Borg, Isabelle Burke, Charlotte Davey, Joe Ellis, Riley Jeans, Bridie O'Neill, Pippa Saunders and Mia Turner will perform in Sydney next year

EIGHT talented youngsters from the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music (UHCM) have been selected to take part in a special presentation next year.

Jessica Borg, Isabelle Burke, Charlotte Davey, Joe Ellis, Riley Jeans, Bridie O'Neill, Pippa Saunders and Mia Turner will join students from Murray Conservatorium (Albury) and Mitchell Conservatorium (Bathurst) to perform at Australia Day celebrations in Sydney in January.

The gifted pupils spent last Friday rehearsing and recording at the ABC studios in readiness for Salute to Australia, broadcast from HMAS Adelaide, and Australia Day Live from the Opera House.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to mix with other singers and participate in a professional production," UHCM director Dr Wendy Brooks.

"They'll be part of a special regional youth choir.

"Their performances [last week] were of a very high standard.

"A huge thank you goes to Chrystal Ellis and Tara Jeans for travelling with the students to Sydney."
