And, they are set to have a special guest, with Santa tagging along and helping deliver the sweets to children throughout different parts of Muswellbrook.

The event is now in its fourth year, and has been growing in popularity with each passing Christmas.

Retain firefighter Luke Simpson took the chance to speak about the enjoyment it brings residents.

"The joy that this event brings to the town is well worth the trek," he said.

"The kids go crazy to see Santa, get some lollies, hear the Christmas music and see the fire truck.

"Sometimes the parents are even more excited."

They will be travelling the same path as last year, and will be out and about on the three days of Monday, December 9, Tuesday the 10^th and Thursday the 12^th, to cover as much territory as possible.

Lolly runs will begin at 4.30pm on those days, and the locations can be found on their Facebook page.

Despite the fun of the event, he said there were some important things for children and parents to remember.

They are asking for kids to be supervised at all times, and for families not to double up by going to different areas on different days.

However, if your street is not highlighted on their route, then you're invited to walk to the closest area that is.

If the fire service gets called for an emergency, they will have lights and sirens on with no music, although they urge people not to panic as they will return as quickly as possible.

Mr Simpson said everyone involved has a lot of fun throughout the famed lolly run.

"I know I love blasting Christmas songs around the town, it spreads the Christmas joy around town and cheers everyone up," he said.
