FOR the past decade, the Mangoola Rural Fire Brigade and Denman Fire and Rescue NSW Station 283 have joined forces to delight residents - young and old - with a sweet treat every Christmas.
And, the status quo will remain in 2019 when the two organisations host their annual Santa Lolly Run this weekend.
The hard-working firefighters are scheduled to hit the streets of Sandy Hollow on Saturday, December 21, from 6pm and then back up at Denman on Sunday, December 22, at 3pm.
"It's about 10 years that Mangoola and Denman 283 have been doing it together," Mangoola Rural Fire Brigade Captain Shaun Hunter said.
"And, each time, it gets better.
"We all do it for the local community.
"Even though we're flat out at times, doing the Santa Lolly Run is like taking a break for us believe it or not.
"It's great to see the community get behind it, too."
Captain Hunter admitted everyone, from the firefighters to the residents, looked forward to the annual event.
"We definitely all enjoy doing it," he said.
"It's the biggest thing we probably do throughout the year.
"And, it doesn't involve any fundraising of any sort.
"It is purely to put a smile on everyone's face in both towns.
"But, from a personal point of view, I love doing it as well.
"Nothing puts a bigger smile on my kids' faces than seeing Santa and, to top it off, he has a convoy of fire trucks.
"We need to say a big thank you to NSW regional manager Mark Pattison and the team from Weir ESCO for donating the lolly bags to us.
"Over the past couple of years we have started to see much more support in Denman.
"So, we are hoping everyone gets outside on the day, gives Santa a wave and grabs a bag of lollies."
