Muswellbrook South Public School (MSPS) was subject to break-ins on Saturday and Sunday nights, which saw money stolen and a large amount of damage caused to property both inside and out.
It is not yet known how the assailants originally got onto the property, prior to embarking on their rampage.
However, principal Glen Kite revealed the offenders, who are yet to be located, fought past security systems to access a number of facilities within MSPS.
"In the canteen, they just smashed things around and they've taken a small amount of money and some food items," he said.
"In the sports shed, they just pulled everything out; they made a mess.
"It just seems like mindless destruction."
Large ceramic pots, teachers' property and items donated by the community were also smashed, but Mr Kite said he was confident the police would be successful in their investigation with forensic teams having already attended the scene.
The principal revealed the entire saga had made him quite emotional.
"There's a lot of care and pride in our school," Mr Kite said.
"Community members have spent time making the grounds look good, teachers spend a lot of time in their classrooms making things look good, too.
"It makes me really angry actually that they [the offenders] don't seem to have anything better to do at the moment.
"They'd just rather wreck other people's property than go and find something fun to do."
Despite the incident, the upcoming school term is not set to be affected and will go ahead as normal.
