And, the organisation - supported by Dungog Shire, Muswellbrook Shire, Singleton and Upper Hunter Shire councils - urges all youngsters in those LGAs to enter as soon as possible.
"We're inviting young people aged eight to 15, who live in the following postcodes (2311, 2321, 2328, 2329, 2330, 2333, 2335, 2336, 2337, 2338, 2420 and 2421), to be involved," regional arts development officer Mark Reedman said.
"Dance crazes have been around for years and it's the Upper Hunter's chance to invent one.
"Plus, with more than $1000 in prizes on offer, it is a fun holiday activity.
"Groups of three-to-six members can use one of two songs by Muswellbrook songwriter Morrigan Raine to create a new dance craze, video it on a phone, tablet or camera and enter it in the contest.
"Our judge is Cadi McCarthy, the director of Catapult Dance.
"She'll pick a finalist from each of the four local government areas, then an overall winner.
"The victorious group will receive $500 and the runners up $250 (per group).
"Entries will appear online, too."
