The match saw a mix of Stingrays and Albion Park players take on a Sutherland squad, with first-half goals to Danika Matos and Michelle Foscarini handing Country a 2-1 victory.
Jordy Baker scored for City midway through the second half to cut the deficit to one.
Matos said it was a great way to start the season and she's confident both clubs will enjoy success in their respective competitions throughout the year.
"It was pretty good for the Country girls," Matos said. "We were probably the underdogs, but we pulled through. For a bunch of girls that have never played together, we did pretty good for our first time.
"It's good to bring girls from different clubs together. The Stingrays and Albion Park are probably the two best clubs in the Illawarra, so it was good."
