Hunter MP Joel Fitzgibbon congratulated John Flood AM on his efforts in securing a $2600 grant to install solar lighting for the Muswellbrook WW1 Anzac Memorial located off the New England Highway.
Mr Flood has been working tirelessly at the site, restoring captured German guns, and took advantage of the Stronger Communities Program to seek funds to complete the project.
He was thrilled to receive the contribution from the local federal member.
"The illumination will definitely enhance the amenity of the WW1 memorial by drawing peoples' attention to the location, which means so much to the Anzac psyche," he said.
"The letters ANZAC, Rising Sun and the captured German field pieces will be highlighted in the evenings.
"I must thank the Muswellbrook RSL Club, too - they were most helpful in assisting with the grant."
Mr Fitzgibbon was impressed with the efforts Mr Flood has made in the name of the Anzac spirit.
"John is a man who always gives to his community, which is very evident at the memorial site," he said.
"I am pleased his efforts have paid off by way of this grant.
"And, I encourage all to visit the site to see the work John's done and to pay their respects to our Anzacs."
