But, for two local men it means that - and much, much more.
Dave Nicholls and Destri Thompson will host a fundraiser next month to assist beloved friend - and Muswellbrook RSL Club employee - John Wells, who is very unwell with a terminal illness.
The pair is organising a couple of competitions - barefoot bowls and pool - at the venue on Saturday, February 22, from 1pm.
"We'd like to show him how much we care about him," Mr Nicholls said.
"That's why we're staging John's Day.
"We're hoping to raise some money to pay for his medical bills and to make this time less stressful for him.
"John is a big part of the local pool side as well as men's bowls.
"So, we've banded together to help him out.
"As we know both here at the Muswellbrook RSL and Muswellbrook Golf clubs, the local community spirit is amazing when it comes to looking after fellow locals."
The duo is also seeking support from the Muswellbrook and Aberdeen business sector to donate a prize, in order for them to have a raffle on the day.
"Some, like The Remington, Hunter Belle Cheese and Muswellbrook RSL Club, have already jumped on board," Mr Thompson added.
"However, we'd like to hear from as many as possible.
"John's a wonderful man; and a great pool player.
"And, it was a shock to all of us to find out he has a rare form of cancer.
"A lot of residents would know him - he's worked on the door at the [RSL] club.
"So, we're determined to support him through this difficult period all the way.
"If you can help out, no matter how small, we'd be extremely grateful.
"Our thanks must also go to Daryl Egan and Katie Lennox from the Muswellbrook RSL for their assistance in putting this all together."
