The New England Highway is under water at various spots in Aberdeen, along with Dartbrook Road, while traffic lights are out of action at the intersection of Maitland Street and Rutherford Road, Muswellbrook, on Monday, February 17.
Officers are currently conducting point duty.
And, they will be there for the next few hours.
"The recent storm activity has affected a couple of areas, and there are reports of blackouts in the region, too," a Hunter Valley Police District spokesperson said.
"Please slow down near the intersection at Muswellbrook and be aware of the officers on the road.
"They're just trying to make it safe for everyone."
Earlier in the day, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) issued a severe warning for Newcastle and the Hunter.
Large hailstones and damaging winds were also predicted.
