Due to the success of the inaugural event in 2019, the Muswellbrook Race Club (MRC) is restricting next month's field to just eight runners.
And, like last year, the footrace will form part of the MRC's Country Championships Wild Card program on Sunday, March 22.
Muswellbrook Cats speedster Josh Adams claimed the maiden honours at Skellatar Park when he held off a fast-finishing Brendon Chalker (Singleton Greyhounds) and Mac Shepherdson (Denman Devils).
Callum Smith (Murrurundi Mavericks), Nick Crackett (Scone Thoroughbreds), Stevie Dengate (Muswellbrook Rams) and Ethan Cridland (Muswellbrook Heelers) also made cut, with Callan Cridland (Muswellbrook Eagles) a late withdrawal after a training mishap.
"It was very well-received throughout the sporting community in 2019," MRC general manager Duane Dowell said.
"Even though the boys admitted afterwards it was very trying over 100m in the longish grass, it was a great spectacle seeing them race down the straight.
"We had guys from AFL, rugby league and union.
"Hopefully, we might get a footballer or two this time.
"The invitation is open to all organisations.
"But, it will be a case of first in best dressed, who'll form the final field."
A trophy, along with $2000 in cash prizes, should be enough incentive for the participants, as well as bragging rights.
The winner will secure $1000 for his side, and a further $300 personally for his performance.
The runner-up and third placegetter don't go home empty-handed either.
Second collects $250 for his club and $150 for himself, while the next best picks up $200 and $100 respectively.
All entrants receive 10 general admission tickets to the Muswellbrook Cup on Friday, March 27, too.
"I thought it was a good event last year," Dowell said.
"It allowed us to work with the local footy clubs; and helped increase crowd numbers at the meeting.
"It was terrific to witness their team mates getting behind them - and cheering them on.
"It's now found itself a permanent home on our calendar."
