While the community has embraced the event since its debut at Highbrook Park on Easter Saturday in 2018, the current climate means it's just not possible to host it again next month.
General manager Fiona Plesman said Muswellbrook Shire Council would look forward to delivering the Easter Family Fun Day in 2021.
"The federal government has provided advice that no non-essential outdoor gatherings of more than 100 people should be held to help minimise the spread of COVID-19," she explained.
"The priority across government at every level is the safety of the public.
"Practicing social distancing is a critical part of the strategy to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic."
Ms Plesman added that residents could practice social distancing by using the Online Service Portal on council's website www.muswellbrook.nsw.gov.au or by phone on 6549 3700.
"The situation is changing quickly and council is monitoring advice from NSW Health to ensure we are acting in accordance with an informed response for the health and wellbeing of everyone," she said.
