AS Australians continue to adapt to the significant changes being made to life as we know it, some businesses are standing strong and flourishing as customer demands change.
Muswellbrook IGA is one of those businesses and, despite the extraordinary scenes on social media that have displayed people behaving erratically in some supermarkets, local owner Leon Quirk said there's been no such trouble here.
While the staff have seen a rise in the amount of people coming into their store, they are mostly keeping up with demand even though some products have seen their sales increase by up to 400 per cent.
Mr Quirk said part of the reason IGA was receiving more traffic was because people were unable to find some items they wanted at the "majors" (Woolworths and Coles).
He also said community support had been strong, and there are groups who have been particularly good to the businesses.
"A lot of the older community shop here and they've been quite good and very respectful of the distancing measures," he said.
"We've had great support from the local police and the police force in general.
"They've been coming into the store and checking it's all okay and if there's any problems, so they need to be congratulated for their efforts too.
"I've been really impressed with the community and how they've helped us get through this whole COVID-19 thing."
This has all been happening in the midst of a busy time for the store, as they complete a downsizing procedure which will also see the Muswellbrook Shire Council offices move into Campbell's Corner.
That process is going well according to the store manager, who revealed it shouldn't be too long until construction is completed.
