With the residents experiencing reduced visits from relatives during COVID-19, Malabar Coal contacted the facility to ask how they could best contribute to improving resident's lives.
"It was nice of them to think of us" said Melinda Abell, Acting Manager, Calvary Muswellbrook Retirement Community.
"We suggested products to help boost our residents' lifestyle and leisure activities."
Malabar Coal Chairman Wayne Seabrook said the company was happy to provide some added comforts to those most at risk during the current crisis.
"When considering ways to we could help during this difficult period, the Muswellbrook Retirement Community sprung to mind as the perfect opportunity," said Malabar's Community Manager, Donna McLaughlin.
"The hampers are a small gesture, but hopefully they provide the residents with a welcome distraction from some of the restrictions and reduced contact with family and friends."
The residents were delighted to receive cards, board games and puzzles, handcraft activities, personal care products and writing compendiums, all of which will be used during this period and beyond to entertain the residents.
"Our residents have been very supportive of the measures implemented by Calvary and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are delighted to see their enthusiastic participation in the additional activities." said Melinda Abell.
