The Colts and Greyhounds have requested to run two men's squads and women's league tag outfits in the NHCRL's 10-round format, which kicks off on July 18.
The regular season will be followed by a three-week semi-final series and grand final on October 24.
The Greyhounds' under-18s will also take part.
It hasn't been confirmed how many sides the Devils will enter.
They will be joined by several clubs from the Maitland and surrounding district including defending triple Ladies League Tag premiers Aberglasslyn Ants and D grade men's champs Dungog.
Others which have signalled they'll participate include Aberglasslyn, Dungog, Kearsley, Maitland United, Morpeth, Raymond Terrace and Thornton-Beresfield.
Clubs have until Friday to enter teams and the league hopes to finalise a draw by Monday, July 6.
The men's competition will feature A, B and C grades and west, south and north D grade conferences.
There will be three grades of league tag and two women's tackle divisions.
NHCRL administrator Dave Wild urged any organisation still considering entering a team or individual players looking for a club to contact him on 0425 242 521 or dwild@nswrl.com.au
Wild said once club numbers have been confirmed it was hoped a revised draw would be completed and published.
"Team numbers for the competition are still very strong and we are expecting great interest come round one," he explained.
"Clubs have been briefed individually in regards to Covid-19 requirements."
