So far, 1264 penalty infringement notices (PIN) have been issued to individuals across the state since March 17, with a further 10 infringements issued to businesses.
There have been a further, 218 court attendance notices issued/charges laid for 'fail to comply with Public Health Act'.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said she was not in a position to provide a breakdown of PINs/charges by area or region.
The legislation was amended earlier this year to help prevent the spread of the virus in the community.
The police spokeswoman said officers were taking a proactive approach to ensure businesses comply with COVID-19 restrictions and minimise the risk of community spread.
"In addition to regular business inspections by licensing police, we've tasked officers to conduct patrols at restaurant precincts and licensed premises, as well as other areas where people may gather," she said.
"While minimal issues have been raised at this time, we would like to remind the community to be vigilant. If you see something that concerns you, raise it with staff at the venue in the first instance."
Suspected breaches can be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
