Water police from Coffs Harbour joined the search at Lighthouse Beach on Sunday but found no clue as to the whereabouts of 56-year-old Mark James.
Mr James was last seen at his home in the Settlement Point area at 7pm on Friday night.
His vehicle, a red Toyota RAV 4, was located by family at 7am Saturday.
He has not been seen since and there are concerns for his welfare.
Family posted on social media they are praying for a positive outcome and that Mr James is found safe and well. They are helping police.
A command centre at Tacking Point Surf Life Saving Club is being co-ordinated by Mid North Coast Police.
The State Emergency Service (SES) and Surf Life Saving NSW have bolstered the search efforts over the weekend scouring a 2.5km stretch of bushland and coastline.
Chief Inspector of Port Macquarie Police Mick Aldridge said there are now serious concerns for Mr James' welfare.
"We are hoping for the best outcome," Ch Insp Aldridge said.
