A frantic finish brought four goals in eight minutes as second-placed Sassuolo recovered from 3-1 down to share the spoils.
The result moves them a point behind league leaders AC Milan, who play on Monday.
Torino were rock bottom and without a point from their opening three matches, but it was they who took the lead in the first half through Karol Linetty.
Filip Duricic levelled for Sassuolo in the 71st but two goals in as many minutes from Andrea Belotti and Sasa Lukic had Torino 3-1 up with 11 minutes remaining.
Sassuolo - who came back from 3-1 down last weekend to win 4-3 against Bologna - threatened to repeat the feat when Vlad Chiriches and Francesco Caputo scored within a minute of each other. But they were unable to find a winner.
Unfancied Sassuolo, playing their eighth season in Italy's top flight, are one of three teams still unbeaten in Serie A, along with Milan and Juventus.
