The Humble Homes program helps re-home local families who are relocating from domestic violence situations and provides housing services for homeless youth under 25.
Malabar donated $1000 toward the program and supplied seven care packs that included essential items such as a sleeping bag, school bag, drink bottle, stationery, and toiletries.
De-anne Douglas, Relief Regional Manager for PCYC Muswellbrook, said Malabar's contribution would go a long way to support the community organisation's program.
"Humble Homes is focused on helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community, including families who have been forced to find new accommodation due to domestic violence, and youth who are without a roof over their head," she said.
"Many of these people are lucky to get housing, and if they do, it's often an empty room, our program provides them with items that transform a house into a home.
"Things like furniture, homewares, and the necessities, which we all take for granted; these items might not mean much to everyone else, but to a family in crisis, it can mean the world.
"As a charity, we struggle to afford these items that make the program run, so when Malabar donated $1000 worth of Big W gift cards and packs filled with sleeping bags and other essentials, we were overjoyed.
"And I know that the broader community is as grateful as we are."
Malabar's manager of Health, Safety, Environment and Community, Donna McLaughlin, said the company was delighted to support such an important community program.
"More and more people in the local community are doing it tough due to the coronavirus and the challenging financial conditions," she said.
"This is why the Humble Homes program is such a vital community service, which can provide a little extra support to help people going through a difficult period."
