On this day communities across the state are encouraged to wear orange as a way to thank all SES volunteers who generously give their time to help communities during flood, storm and bushfire emergencies and support other emergency services in road crash rescues, vertical rescues and even as first responders.
Here's to all the volunteers across who work all year round to protect us at our most vulnerable. We thank you for saving lives and protecting communities.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation's volunteers.
From Monday 17 to Sunday 23 May 2021, NVW will celebrate the significant contribution of Australia's almost six million volunteers and highlight the special SES volunteers.
Muswellbrook Shire Council will show their support of WOW Day by shining a light for our own SES volunteers - Campbells Corner will be lit orange on the night of May 19.
May is Cystic Fibrosis month
And to support research and raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, Muswellbrook Shire Council will light up Campbells Corner on the evening of Friday May 28.
Every four days a baby is born in Australia with cystic fibrosis (CF). Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA) is committed to improving clinical practice and patient outcomes through its clinical improvement programmes and research with the aim of extending life expectancy from 37 to 50 years by 2025.
