The series was scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 14 at Dubbo and culminate on September 25 with the world's richest greyhound race.

Due to the COVID-19 situation and uncertainty around lockdowns in the State, GRNSW has stated it has been left with "no realistic alternative" but to postpone the series.

GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Tony Mestrov said the 2021 TAB Million Dollar Chase would not be lost, and that GRNSW now plans for the postponed series to be held in April-May next year.

He added that GRNSW also intends to stage another Chase series in its regular August-September timeslot for 2022.

"Naturally we are extremely disappointed that the sport's premier event, the TAB Million Dollar Chase, will not be able to go ahead this year," Mestrov said.

"We looked at several options and alternatives to run the series in a variety of different formats, but each option presented its own unique challenges and degrees of uncertainty. In the end the only responsible, practical and sensible decision to make in the current environment in NSW, was to not run the TAB Million Dollar Chase in 2021, but postpone it to May 2022.

"We hope that 2022 will bring more freedom for residents in NSW, and that GRNSW will be staging two Million Dollar Chase series next year, one in April-May, and one in August-September."

The supporting events which accompany the TAB Million Dollar Chase Grand Final - including the $100,000 Masters Meteor - will also be moved back to May 2022.
