SOMETIMES it feels almost every day and month has been co-opted by a cause.
It's at the point where one of the weekly questions in the pub trivia I compete in asks if a particular "day" is real or made up. For example, is national collect rocks day real or fake?
It's real - September 16, in case you're wondering.
I also recently learned that November 5 is "hug a chicken day", to celebrate our feather fowl friends.
But while some can be a gimmick - September 19, international talk like a pirate day - others are an important way to reflect and highlight something important.
This Friday - November 19 - is National Agriculture Day, to help remind us all of where our food comes from.
With some fast facts about agriculture - it employs about 2.5 per cent of Australia's workforce, who are responsible for 51 per cent of our landmass.
But that 2.5 per cent is just a starting point. Ag is in the business of growing, and it's always looking for people to help that happen.
Among the #AgDayAu activities on offer, there has also been a careers expo, held via webinar, allowing people to gain some insight into the wide range of career options available in the sector.
If you need anymore convincing about the benefits of agriculture as a career, just check out this collection of images in the AgDay #AgVenture Photo Competition, a joint initiative of NFF and Syngenta Australia.
Who wouldn't want that "day at the office"?
Head to agday.org.au to see how you could get involved in the celebrations. And make sure to look closely at your calendar and see what other days you might be missing.
