Get a group together and get out your golf clubs, Can Assist’s annual Charity Golf Day is coming up. The event will start with an auction at 10am on Friday August 5 to buy a pro, followed by an 11am shotgun start, Can Assist Dubbo president Fran Ellis said. “You can buy a pro golfer and that gives them an advantage at winning some of our wonderful prizes,” Ms Ellis said. There’ll be special prizes on the day as well as a raffle. The first person to get a hole in one on the 18th hole will win a Toyota Yaris. It’s a four-person scramble 18-hole event, and morning tea, lunch and presentation nibbles will be included. Ms Ellis said it was one of Can Assist’s major fundraisers for the year. All the proceeds allow the charity to help Dubbo and district patients with their financial needs, like medical, pharmaceutical, travel and accommodation to help alleviate the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis. “In May we paid out over $7,000. In June it was over $4,000, and most of that went to accommodation in Orange,” Ms Ellis said. Register by July 29 by phoning the Pro Shop on 6882 2201.
