But Bravehearts is one cause that local psychic medium Lauren Wennerbom couldn’t sit by and do nothing about.
“Instead of sitting there on the couch thinking how bad it is, I thought I need to join the fight,” she said.
“I have never seen anything like it [promoted] in the area.”
White Balloon Day, on September 12, is a fundraising day for Bravehearts to promote the protection of Australian children who have been victims of child sexual abuse.
Ms Wennerbom’s business, Whispers from Heaven, will be donating $10 from every appointment from September 8 to 14 to the cause.
She has also been joined by a number of other businesses supporting White Balloon Day, including Chemistworks Muswellbrook who will host a morning tea on September 12, while Aberdeen Vet and Pet Centre will hold an event on September 11.
Mt Arthur Coal, Drayton and Kim’s Bakery have also put their hands up to help out.
“It’s just been really good,” Ms Wennerbom said of the local support.
“Most people have been quite good about it.”
Teaming up with her sisters, Ms Wennerbom and the Little Angels are seeking to make $300 and she hopes that other residents will support their fundraising or host their own event.
“They have been perfect to deal with,” she said of Bravehearts.
“It is very easy to sign up, as a fundraising team or individual.
“Let’s give a voice to victims.”
To make an appointment with Lauren for the fundraiser from September 8 to 14, she can be contacted on 0427 715 851 or via her Whispers from Heaven Facebook page.
