From Monday, as part of their partnership with the SES, Muswellbrook NRMA will launch a campaign to help people take simple steps around their home to prepare for the storm season.
“We have a host of activities, including a display featuring rescue mannequin Kevin Quinn and pamphlets, to promote the StormSafe message throughout the month of September,” branch manager Kristine Smith said.
“The campaign will also assist residents in understanding their local risk from storms and taking action to minimise that damage.
“NRMA has been on board since 2012.
“And, as a major sponsor of the NSW SES, we’re happy to support the StormSafe campaign.
“Our customers will have the opportunity to win a Home Emergency Kit too.”
Muswellbrook SES Local Controller Mark Elsley said residents could follow eight simple tips to be StormSafe.
“People need to act now,” he told the Chronicle.
“So, 1, maintain your yard and balcony; 2, clean gutters; 3, trim branches; 4, fix roof damage; 5, check your insurance; 6, prepare an emergency plan; 7, prepare an emergency kit; and 8, listen to your local radio for weather warnings.”
