The annual prize isn’t for a particular medium, there is no minimum age, and there is nothing stopping Under 18s from entering in the open sections.
There are six categories within the prize are the Viola Bromley Painting Prize, Gary Philp Works on Paper Prize, Local 3D Prize, Mt Arthur Coal Photography Prize, Local Aboriginal Art Prize, Esther Bellis Youth Prize.
Muswellbrook Arts Centre manager Brad Franks said this is aimed at celebrating local artists.
“Thanks to all our sponsors,” he said.
“There are three places in each prize, so 18 prizes to be handed out.
“The adjudicator this year is Kim Blunt, gallery curator at Maitland Regional Art Gallery.”
While it is not a requirement, all artists are welcome to sell their works entered in the Prize.
Entry is $15 which goes towards the Arts Centre’s acquisition of artwork for the Muswellbrook Shire collection.
Entries close Friday, October 17, and the exhibition will go from November 9 to December 18.
