FIVE Muswellbrook junior league players have one exciting weekend ahead of them after they were selected to trial for the Newcastle Knights Harold Matthews and S G Ball squads.

Ben Talty, Paul Dengate, Bryce Beverstock and Fletcher Baker will be among 80 Under 16s players from across the Hunter Region and Central Coast taking part in the trials at Toronto.
Under 18 player Brad Collett is Muswellbrook’s only representative in the S G Ball trials.
If selected the boys will face four months of off-season training three times a week under the professional guidance of the Newcastle Knights coaching team in addition to strength and conditioning experts from Newcastle University.
Two of the five spoke to The Muswellbrook Chronicle this week.
Both Ben Talty and Paul Dengate were in Knights development squads last year and understand what selection means.
“It’s a great opportunity, we will all be doing our best to get selected,” Ben said.
