Troy Garling has been appointed as assistant coach.
Scott has been involved with the club since the get go and has been a vital building block for the club.
Both Scott and Garling have helped out immensely over the years in coaching positions both running various training sessions and coaching games during some games.
The pair know the players well and have their respect with everyone keen to get back on the training paddock.
The club is excited about its prospects for the season ahead, and with a strong squad remaining from last year and some local juniors moving into senior positions, the Cats should fare well.
Muswellbrook president Ken Garland is looking forward to 2015.
“I am excited for what is to come in 2015 with a new coaching team and the experience of having played in the BDAFL last year,” Garland said.
“We showed at the end of last year that we can match the best sides in the competition and we are aiming for a finals appearance in 2015.”
Coaching appointments have also been made in a number of the junior squads with Adam Warner (Newcastle Junior Coach of the year for 2014) taking the helm of the under-17’s team while Paul Heaton will be guiding the under-15 side. Steve Mullane will again be coaching the under-13s.
Pre-season training will start up on February 20 for senior players at Weeraman Field at 6pm.
As for the juniors they will begin with an information day on February 27.
Anyone interested in playing AFL in the 2015 season is encouraged to come up to Weeraman Field on that day, as Donna Mullane and Annette Garland will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
The Muswellbrook Cats will also be kicking of its first season for the AFL 9’s comp.
This is due to start on Wednesday, February 11. It has been set-up for those who are a little unsure of how AFL runs and is a touch version of the game.
Ages from 10 to seniors are encouraged, you do not need to be a current member of the Muswellbrook Cats to come and play. Cost is $50 per person for an eight-week program.
Games will run on Wednesdays from 5.40pm.
