The Muswellbrook-born sensation is not looking to add any unnecessary pressure ahead of the tournament.
“Hopefully I’ll go alright now that I’ve played in a few competitions of a similar standard,” she said.
“But I’m just aiming to make the cut and go from there really.”
Keaton has just returned from playing in her most prestigious tournament to date, the Australian Ladies Masters, on the Gold Coast.
The 22-year-old went up against the likes of gifted winner Su Oh, defending champion and Tiger Woods’ niece, Cheyenne, and England’s former rookie of the year, Charley Hull.
She missed the cut with a +11 overall, but described it as an incredible experience.
“Just having the ropes up on the fairway for the spectators was something totally different to what I’m used to, it was amazing,” she said.
“It was exciting to have so much support from home too, there was plenty of people who travelled up to watch me and I also had a lot of well wishes.”
A prodigious talent, Keaton took up golf at the age of eight and was playing with an 18-hole handicap just two years later.
She started her PGA traineeship in 2012, a three-year process which involved playing weekly tournaments, working full-time and studying. After getting through the gruelling workload, she has now turned her attention towards making more appearances at professional competitions and improving her skills.
“A bit further down the track I’m aiming to make the Hong Kong ladies open [held in June], but overall I just want to work on my game and fitness this year,” she said.
Keaton has already met several golfing superstars, including current men’s number one Rory McIlroy, during the pursuit of her main passion in life.
“I saw him at the British Open in 2011 and couldn’t speak, it was unreal,” she said.
“Golf is something I’ve always wanted to do since I started playing when I was little, I just love it.”
