MEGAN Doran has been handed the Muswellbrook Shire Athlete of the Year award for her efforts this season at the NSW Country Championships.

Doran claimed the prize in front of a packed crowd during the Muswellbrook Amateur Athletics Club’s presentation night.
The other major award winner was Ian Richards, who took out the Club Person of the Year for his dedication and commitment as part of the committee.
Trophies were also awarded for the winners of the various pointscore champions and the overall winner in all their ages.
Female championship winners for their ages were:
Myah Cutrupi in the five years category, Lily Mears in the sixes group, Eve Howard in the sevens, Audrey Sinclair in the eights, Abby Howard in the nines, Amber Howard in the 11s, Jaide Cutrupi in the 13s, Melanie Richards in the 14s, Megan Doran in the under-20s, Emily Huggins in the seniors, and Karen Scott in the 45-54 years section.
The male winners were Oscar Daniels in the fives category, Braeden Edwards in the sixes section, Brock Carey, in the sevens, Charlie Daniels in the 8s, Jeremy Roberts in the nines, Callum Goodwin in the 10s, Lachlan Clare-Lidster in the 11s, Atticus Sinclair in the 12s, Alexander Aughey in the under-16 years and Michael Duck in the seniors group.
Many athletes received encouragement awards as well as championship banners.
The male award for most assistance to the club went to Peter Howard, who volunteered many hours marking the field.
Emily Huggins took out the female category for competing while also running the canteen through serving, cooking and shopping.
