Vice-president Harry Hobden said the club’s biggest event of the year did not disappoint.
“The crowd was really fantastic, they were very loud and provided plenty of support for the team,” he said.
“Our raffles and auction also raised a few thousand dollars, so it was a really successful day all up.
“We are very happy with the local support and money raised.”
The club’s reserves went down 24-20 against Easts in reserves but first grade remain undefeated so far, claiming a 36-3 victory to take out the Matt Kane Shield.
Hobden said it was pleasing to see the players perform with plenty of determination on such an important day for the club.
“I was very proud of all the Muswellbrook boys, the pride they showed in the jersey on our Memorial Day was amazing,” he said.
“They put their body on the line in every play of the day.”
The Heelers will now face Cooks Hill at Empire Park tomorrow. Reserves kick off at 1.30pm and first grade starts at 3pm.
