For the past three years, Endeavour Group has been servicing Muswellbrook, starting the journey with one client, which has now grown to a clientele of 23.
Endeavour’s client programs coordinator Sally Pereira said events like the Rotary Ball were of great support.
“These events are so amazing to us because they give our clients the opportunity to experience things they haven’t had the chance to do before,” she said.
“It also makes us feel really strongly, like we are part of the community and that our community really acknowledges what we are about.”
Last year’s ball saw Rotary donate $6000 to Endeavour.
“This money helped us tremendously as we had just relocated our service so we were able to use some of the funds for resources for our new community programs centre, like a new fridge,” she said.
“We were also able to take our guys on trips away to Sydney to visit Taronga Zoo and we have another trip to Luna Park planned.
“These are things they may not have been able to do if we hadn’t received this money.
“We have also purchased two iPads which are great communication and sensory resources.
“We still have some of the funds to use on items for our new centre’s garden which our guys have been working extremely hard on creating.”
There are a number of Endeavour Group Australia sites but, in Muswellbrook, the aim of the service is to promote choice and community participation.
“We really want to provide as many opportunities for our clients as we can, allowing them to have the choice and independence in their lives that everyone deserves,” Sally said.
She believes they have seen this happen during their time in Muswellbrook.
“Our new op-shop style store Rummage has been a project that our clients have been working on and has helped them to build so many new skills and gain huge amounts of confidence,” she said.
“A big part of it also comes down to so many wonderful people in the community that help us out regularly and volunteer their time to assist us.
“We see it in the ways people are so accepting in the community of us and the work we do, and how our service helps to play a small part in breaking down barriers that can surround people with a disability.
“Grant Jupe and Muswellbrook Rotary Club have been so incredibly supportive of the work we do at Endeavour.
“We would also just like to thank the local community for their support and generosity, as well as everyone who has donated raffle and auction items for the ball.”
The ball will be at Muswellbrook RSL Club on Saturday, May 30, from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
It is formal dress and tickets are $100 per person, which includes welcome drinks, a three-course dinner, and entertainment.
Tickets are available from Raine & Horne Muswellbrook, located at 22 Bridge Street.
Sydney jazz and groove band GHQ, back by popular demand, will be providing the entertainment.
Register by Saturday, May 23, to secure your seat.
