After going down 24-4 to Scone in the major semi last weekend, the Ramettes are determined to set up a rematch with their formidable rivals.
However, Muswellbrook coach Gordon Boney believed Greta Branxton would push his side to the limit.
Muswellbrook hammered the Colts 20-0 and 32-4 earlier in the season, but then suffered a nail-biting 20-18 loss in round 15.
“I think it’ll go down to the wire, and it should be a really good contest between two pretty evenly-matched teams,” Boney said.
“The last time we played them they beat us but in saying that we had four girls out who were key players.
“The girls have been playing good quality football and we are confident in our ability.”
Boney said he was pleased with the team’s previous effort against title favourites Scone in challenging conditions.
Scone built a daunting 24-0 lead but the Ramettes hit back with a late try to Maddison Swan.
“They never gave up; the girls put a lot of pressure on Scone and there was always going to plenty of dropped ball in those conditions,” Boney said.
“But I thought we still had good ball movement; you always want to finish your last game on a positive note and we did that.”
The match kicks off at 10am at Greta Central Oval. In other
fixtures, Muswellbrook takes on the Colts in the under-18s from 11.15am, while Scone faces Greta Branxton in reserves at 12.40pm.
Denman then tackles the Colts in first grade from 2.15pm.
