Drugged up hoons are wreaking havoc in the city’s west, allegedly stealing, dumping and burning out cars, doing drug deals and terrifying local residents.

Councillor Henry Meskauskas said numerous residents have contacted him. He has raised the matter with police and is supporting residents in a call for council to cordon off access points to a reserve off Joshua Close, Aberglasslyn.
One resident who spoke to Fairfax Media anonymously, said she has moved her bedroom from the rear of her home to a front room to escape the noise from the reserve near her house. “They’re at the reserve every night,” the resident said.
“This has been going on for months and residents have had enough. They recently dumped a car there took the number plates and removed wheels and at 8.30 that night it was torched,” she said.
“They’re in cars on motor bikes. People walk up to them sitting in their cars and I’m sure they’re exchanging drugs and money,” she said. “I’m forever picking up bongs and their McDonald’s rubbish. They’re racing cars, doing burnouts.
“I’ve written to council to try to get the area fenced off. They’re driving cars and riding motor bikes along the footpaths.” She said access is being gained from a concrete pathway in Joshua Close, a track from Weblands Street and a driveway from Fairfax Street.
Mayor Peter Blackmore responded to the resident when she contacted council with her concerns and said a council ranger had spoken to her. “Council has resolved to call for expressions of interest in selling the land which then will hopefully remove the offenders,” he said.
