The children got plenty of air on the trampolines and inflatable slides at Revolution Sports Park, Maryville, after a day of learning how to use public transport, Opal cards and travel apps.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT hosted the mobility day to teach children skills and strategies to safely travel independently, as most of them would not be able to drive a car due to their vision impairments.
“It is good to learn these skills at a young age to get them comfortable using public transport and negotiating busy environments,” Guide Dogs orientation and mobility specialist Katrina Lim said.
Dressed as Batman, legally blind nine-year-old Noah Johns said the day had been a fun way to learn different ways to get around the city.
“We went on a scavenger hunt to find notes and special items in a shop,” he said.
