More than 87 per cent of the 480 employees, who participated, voted in favour of the new agreement.
The ballot was conducted on site between Thursday, October 13, and Tuesday, October 18, and follows several months of negotiations between AGL Macquarie leadership, Unions and employee representatives.
AGL Macquarie acting general manager Kate Coates said the outcome was pleasing and a reflection of the positive and productive bargaining process.
“All members of the bargaining committee should be congratulated for their work over recent months and for their commitment to negotiating in a fair manner,” she said.
“It was a constructive bargaining process and has resulted in an agreement that provides certainty and stability for the future for our business, our people, our customers and the community.”
The new three-year agreement includes a 3.5 per cent pay rise each year and several other employment condition and workplace productivity improvements.
“Our industry and our region are both facing significant challenges, with tight economic conditions in an industry in transition,” Ms Coates said.
“We are pleased therefore to have support for an agreement that rewards employees for the great work they do and at the same time provides security and continuity for our business.
“It is a good example of what can be achieved when all bargaining parties take an open and practical approach to negotiations.
“The community relies on a safe and secure electricity supply and this agreement allows us to get on with what we do best, meeting our customers’ energy needs.”
It is anticipated that the agreement will be approved by the Fair Work Commission in coming weeks.
Once approved, the new agreement operates from January 1, 2017.
