Santa Gertrudis and Red Angus entries dominated the interbreed classes at this year's Upper Hunter Show beef cattle competition.

The show is held at the Muswellbrook Showground and fortunately for organisers the weather god were kind with plenty of sunshine over the two days.
Vying for the supreme exhibit rosette were two entries from the Richards family’s Leven Santa Gertrudis stud, McCullys Gap near Muswellbrook.
With the top award going to the 30 months old cow Leven Ophelia shown with a five month old bull calf at foot Leven Mustang. Ophelia, at only 11 months of age ,had won the supreme Santa Gertrudis ribbon at the Sydney Royal.
She was described by judge as being the complete package – structurally sound, great topline with plenty of volume and a wonderful udder.

Leven Kings Ransom had to settle for champion bull of the show having earlier then out the Bos Indicus champion bull ribbon.
The Stubbs family’s Barrhon Lodge Red Angus, Tamworth exhibited the champion pair of bulls and the breeders group.
With the sire’s progeny ribbon going to the Connors family’s JP Red Angus stud, Willow Tree. Champion led steer was shown by Clayton Porter, Merriwa with a Speckle Park and the reserve ribbon went to a Limousin entry shown by Jack Almond also from Merriwa.
