And, it had nothing to do the with Muswellbrook Rams’ talented junior sides, who celebrated the club’s 50th anniversary.
It all centred around the Life Members-Club Legends battle, which featured a number of illustrious names such as Gary Picton, Rob Beckingham, Steve Lanesbury, Kurt Dial, Chris Dengate, Phil Beverstock, Alan Baker, Steve Haylen, Tad Moffitt, John Deakin, John Kelman, John Hamson and Johnny Marco, to name just a few.
The entertaining invitational encounter also featured “live”, and humorous, commentary from under-18 coach Paul Benkovic, with assistance from first grade hooker Adam Grech.
While the action was somewhat slower, compared to the glory days, the old boys thrilled the big crowd in attendance.
“I was pretty honoured to be selected to play in the Rams’ 50th anniversary game,” senior president Kurt Dial said.
“What a great day.”
Local physios are expected to be rubbing their hands in anticipation of the influx of business come Monday morning.
