And, each unique box from the Aberdeen Care Package Cadets is gratefully received by the individual or group on arrival.
One particular recipient recently visited the group to personally thank them for their efforts.
Warrant Officer Greg Shirley and his wife Leslie went to the workshop where the cadets, lead by the Johnstons, assemble the parcels.
He had received dozens of boxes in Iraq to hand out to soldiers, and promised himself he would share his appreciation returned to Australia.
The high school helpers – Logan Milton-Smith, Rowan Bateman, Pete Connett, Brayden Forsyth, and Nathan Swinbourne – received a medal from Special Operations Task Force Group TG 632, in appreciation of their support.
Former Care Package Cadet Jonah Pittman, who was part of the team when the packages arrived, was also given a medal.
Group leader Carole Johnston said it was an amazing afternoon.
“All our boxes are personalised and everyone gets a letter,” she said.
“[The students] come every Wednesday after school.
“We do about 25 care packages every week and sometimes up to 40.”
Mrs Johnston is grateful for all the support from the local community that has made the Care Package Cadets’ work possible.
“Muswellbrook Reject Shop is a wonderful supporter of us,” she said.
“They let us know when they’re having specials.
“We couldn’t do it without them, and also Coles.”
